Supporting the interactive digital launch of major government strategy

We supported Henry Dimbleby and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to launch a major strategy on food, attended by hundreds of participants.

Challenge

Henry Dimbleby was commissioned by the government to write a National Food Strategy. In launching part one of the strategy, there was a need to share its findings to a wide range of interested stakeholders. Credibility, production values, and the ability for participants to interact were critical given the report’s high profile.

Kaleidoscope was commissioned to design and deliver a digital event, including how to combine the event with social media engagement.

Approach

We worked closely with Henry Dimbleby and the strategy team to ensure the event was designed in accordance with the values and approach taken for the strategy itself.

We ensured a highly professional feel, including through use of our dedicated webinar studio, and clear communication to all participants. Interactive polls and questions were used throughout to ensure everyone felt they were able to take part, rather than being passive attendees. To provide a great service to all those joining, we had team members on hand to troubleshoot any issues before and during the event.

We produced a high-quality insights pack summarising the event’s discussion and shared with all participants following the event, along with the recording.

Impact

The event was attended by more than 1,000 participants on Zoom. These included Parliamentarians, civil servants, journalists, food industry leaders, think tanks, academics and citizens. The event received a large amount of engagement on national and social media.
